Employment

Devonshires’ Employment Team acts for a broad public and private sector client base and, in line with the firm as a whole, social housing accounts for 60-70% of the team’s business. The team was established in 1997, the business has tripled in size in the last 5 years.

The team comprises 2 partners and 4 solicitors led by Partners Amanda Harvey and Nicola Philp. Amanda and Nicola are well known in the public sector for their employment and associated pensions work. Members of our team are regularly asked to appear as guest speakers and to contribute to various industry specific publications.

The employment team advises on all aspects of employment law. We advise in relation to all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law including - but not limited to - TUPE (including associated pensions issues), discrimination (including claims for race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability) unfair / wrongful dismissal, redundancy / restructuring, contract / policy reviews, severance claims, employment litigation in the High Court, County Court and Employment Tribunal and general advice in connection with all aspects of European and domestic employment legislation. In addition, for our social landlord clients, in conjunction with our corporate department we regularly advise in relation to governance issues, including Schedule 1 Housing Act 1996.

Our approach is to provide a proactive service that is solution driven and tailored towards our clients individual needs. In providing our advice, we appreciated that the best legal solution is not always the best commercial solution for our clients. We work with our clients to find creative solutions, minimising risk to achieve their objectives.
