Wallspace in the Workplace – Bringing art to the City

Tuesday, 24 May 2011

Devonshires, in association with art charity Wallspace, held a successful private viewing evening for 50 key clients and other guests on Thursday 19th May 2011.

'Wallspace in the Workplace' is dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art in unexpected territory and the mentoring of young artists. The artworks on show were by emerging and city based practitioners, chosen as 'developing artists'. This exciting new project is designed to promote the work of these artists across the capital, and offers a fresh way to explore the themes and issues of some of Devonshires' specialisms – mainly Social Housing.

‘Wallspace in the Workplace’ is a part of the Devonshires CSR programme highlighting Devonshires’ commitment to the local community – the art selected being relevant not only to the space inside but also the city in which we operate.

Chief Executive, Andrew Cowan welcomed the guests and Antony Power, the lead Partner in the collaboration between Devonshires and Wallspace, explained more about Devonshires’ connection with the charity. Ellie Doney – the representative for Wallspace - then introduced all the artists and their work.  The artists were available throughout the evening to discuss the various artworks as well as giving guests the opportunity to purchase or commission pieces as they wished.
