I decided to apply for a training contract at Devonshires primarily because I had first hand experience of what life as a trainee would be like after completing a summer work experience at the firm. I was particularly attracted to the “down to earth”, non-hierarchical atmosphere and the responsibility that the trainees experience at such an early stage. These preconceptions about the firm have thankfully all been completely accurate. After only two weeks in my first seat in Litigation Housing Management I have been to court twice, had email contact with numerous clients, been given an array of different types of work to do and immediately been made to feel like a valued member of the team. This kind of exposure is not usual practice in most firms and it makes the training process all the more exciting.
