What We Do

Children

Financial Support for Children

We can advise you on the financial support available for children on the breakdown of a relationship, whether you are the parent that will have care of the children or what is called the non-resident parent. The Child Support Agency sets down guidelines as to the amount of child support that should be paid depending on each parent’s circumstances, and these can be used to negotiate an agreement. Alternatively an application can be made to the CSA for an assessment to be made. We can assist you with whichever option you pursue, and help you to achieve a fair provision for your children.

Disputes regarding Children

In the event of divorce or separation, you may become involved in a dispute about where your children will live and how often you will see them, or other matters related to their upbringing. We can help you achieve appropriate solutions either by negotiation and agreement, or if necessary by applying for a Court order. We will advise you on workable arrangements which place the best interests of your children at their heart.

If it is necessary to take the dispute to Court, we can help you apply for various orders such as:

a contact order which will determine the frequency of contact you have with your children;
a residence order which will determine the practicalities of where and with which parent the children will live;
a prohibited steps order which will prevent certain steps being taken in relation to children; or
a specific issue order which will set out precisely how a particular issue relating to children should be resolved.
