What We Do

How much compensation will I be awarded?

The amount of compensation that you will be awarded is determined by two categories:

• General damages: the court will award a sum for “pain, suffering & loss of amenity”; and
• Special damages: this covers the actual financial losses and expenses arising from injury eg. Costs of caring for an injured person and physiotherapy etc.

More serious claims which result in a life long incapacity affecting someone’s ability to work and care for themselves will attract the largest awards. An example of this would be a cerebral palsy claim where a child has been managed incorrectly at birth.
